Part number codes - USA
Codes to determine the requirement of sheet stock are based on the US military (AMS) specifications or on a Boeing part number. As an example, 112125 is a sheet composition:
1 = Aluminium
Type1 = all laminations
Class 2 = 0.075mm(0.003”) laminations
Thickness = 0.125”.
Note: USA Military Specification MIL-DTL-22499D is identical to AMS-DTL-22499.
Standard Material Range

* Polyester (Attewell) LM1 is Mylar® RL32 peelable one-side corona-treated polyester film
Notes
Type 1 - all laminations
Type 2 - One half solid stock
Class 1 - 0.05mm (0.002”) laminations
Class 2 - 0.075mm (0.003”) laminations
Boeing - BAC1534 (Aluminium Alloy, Titanium Alloy, Stainless Steel)
Boeing - BAC1535 (Polyimide Plastic)
A Boeing part number (e.g. BAC1534-33) will determine a particular shim stock sheet.
In this case the ‘-33’ specifies an aluminium sheet, all laminations 0.033” thick.

Easy Code System
Materials can be specified to British Standard, US Standard, or Attewell Standard. All
standards can be cross-referenced with a simple code system indicating the exact
product requirement.
Considerations are:
- Shim material
- Finished shim thickness
- Thickness of laminations
- Solid stock sheet size
